At King Stone Surfaces, our focus is to elevate the quality of interior finishes while simplifying the building process for our partners. We exist to serve builders, designers, and developers by delivering fully coordinated, turnkey solutions—from finish selections and procurement through installation and close-out—backed by disciplined processes, trusted relationships, and over 70 years of industry experience. As a third-generation, family-owned company, we are committed to long-term partnerships built on accountability, consistency, and craftsmanship


Our Story
Early Days
In 1955, Marvin Kahle started Kahle Carpet Co. in Dubuque, IA. The family-run company began as a flooring retailer, supplying and installing carpet, linoleum and tile to homeowners in the Midwest. The company quickly grew and expanded into commercial work, supplying projects such as schools, offices and motels.
Expansion
Seeing opportunity in the quickly growing Southeast, Kahle Carpet Co expanded into Florida, opening an office in Spring Hill in 1986. In Florida, the company focused on supplying and installing wall tile and flooring to Tampa area custom home builders - many of which were family-run businesses themselves. Having successfully established the business in Florida, the Kahle's once again expanded into commercial work, serving the area’s commercial contractors.
Specialization
With the growth of the Florida operations, in 1993, Kahle Carpet Co moved its corporate office to Florida. By 1997, the company's success with supplying homebuilders led it to rebrand as Kahle Wholesale, Inc. dba Coast Floor & Tile Group and solely focus on serving regional homebuilders and commercial contractors.
Throughout the 2000s & 2010s, Kahle Wholesale established itself as a leading supplier and contractor in the Suncoast area. During that time, the company completed tens of thousands of projects and expanded its factory relationships to offer builders a more diverse range of quality products at wholesale prices.
Growth & Diversification
Since 2019, the company has focused on strategic growth and diversification, leveraging its supply chain and operational expertise to expand into new markets and add complementary lines of revenue. During this period, King Stone Surfaces expanded its interior finishes portfolio to include cabinets and countertops, began supplying multifamily projects throughout the state of Florida, and invested heavily in its design infrastructure by building a dedicated in-house design team and opening two full-service design studios to better support builders and development partners. In 2021, the Kahle family once again rebranded, choosing the name King Stone Surfaces to reflect the growing scope of products and services offered to the construction industry.
Today, King Stone Surfaces offers design, supply, and installation services to home builders, commercial contractors, and multifamily projects throughout Florida, supported by two full-service design studios that serve as coordinated selection and planning centers for our partners. Our 70+ years of industry experience, reputation, and relationships built along the way allow us to provide exceptional service to our clients and continue to thrive in our third generation.
